- Niki TAn island retreat, in a heavenly place. What more could one wish for… Where to start from the beginning our entire week was faultless. Our boat transfer to and from Vomo was smooth, comfortable and enjoyable, as we passed all the other islands on our way to Vomo, it was so picturesque. We arrived with the smiling Fijian staff singing in their divine voices a welcome song, as we were each gifted a wooden necklace, which I can say I do wear with several dresses. Our checkin was quick and informative of what we can do and see on the island. We had booked a family villa called The Palms. It sleeps 8. Oh my goodness! It was absolutely stunning, and on the beachfront. We could get up each morning and simply plop into the warm Fijian ocean straight out the front. Amazing. Checkout the website, but in real life The Palms was way better than we expected. We had a sweet Fijian girl Ekka, allocated to look after us from first thing in the morning, to the evening. Ekka discreetly popped up everywhere, wanting to assist where ever was needed. She set the table and arranged lunch to be delivered to our villa from The Rocks restaurant, when we just wanted to hang by our villa pool and not go out. She even went and got a takeaway coffee for us from the main restaurant if we wanted a barista one, instead of the pod machine in the villa, which was used as well and plenty of pods supplied. The fridge was stocked with treats and plenty of ice to make our drinks. Ekka served us at every meal in whatever restaurant we chose, the Rocks or the main restaurant and learnt our likes. The meals we had were fresh and delicious. We did not have a bad meal, breakfast lunch or dinner. The service from every staff member came with a huge smile and a gentleness, and so professional as well. We loved The Rocks, adults only pool and restaurant. The views were beyond spectacular. The Thursday we were there, The Rocks pool area had a fabulous live band that could play anything. Drifting in the pool, holding a margarita and listening to the live vibes whilst starring across the Vomo Lai Lai Island, is a memory I will not forget. The staff also passed around adult ice creams, like a pina colada ice cream and a rum and coke popcicle, whilst we lazed around. Heaven! I snorkelled many times right out the front of The Palms Villa, which was so good. I saw a reef shark and so many fish and the corals were so pretty and colourful. It was just so easy. No boat required. The time we were on the island there were many young families, the island has so many beautiful areas you can be part of the family scene or simply wander and find your own secret spot on the white sandy beach. I could go on and on. It truely was the most relaxing, refreshing and tranquil holiday we had ever been on. Vomo is deserving of its tourism awards. We will be back, maybe even with the grandkids. A big thank you to all the gracious and kind staff of Vomo. - 01/05/23read moreread less
- darrenlc1975Unbelievable family holiday. Wow!!! Wow!!! Wow!!! The Vomo experience is one that we will never forget. From the moment we arrived you could feel the connection with this place and its people. From a family's point of view it was everything you could hope for. The boys were active from morning till night, snorkeling, Kayaking, swimming and fishing. All of the guys at Ocean Play were so much fun and really made our children feel like they belonged. The wait and bar staff were all so friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Nothing was a problem. When it comes to the kids club, that was another level again. Our boys were looked after by Siko. Siko went out of his way to ensure the boys had an amazing time. To the level where they were both begging to go and hang out with him. - Donna WLove Love Love We stayed in The Palms residence and it was absolutely amazing. We were a family of 6 adults and 1 toddler for my 60th birthday. It was brilliant from start to finish. The residences come with a 'butler' - wasn't sure what to expect - certainly did not imagine a lovely man (Semi) there from daylight until dark every day to organise our whole life. Not sure if we will be able to holiday without a butler ever again!! The island is beyond what we were expecting. Food was top shelf every meal. We had 3 vegetarians in our group and they were really helpful with our meals (inform them before arriving). The Rocks adults only section was absolutely marvellous. Both sides of the island has wonderful beaches. The daily snorkelling trips were very enjoyable. We did the picnic - 01/03/23read moreread less
- TMThe best family holiday I have ever had. This is the best family holiday I have ever been on (2 adults, plus 3yo and 9yo). The staff are extraordinary, and will with authentic care do anything required to take care of your children, any issue, and address any booking you need. The kids club is fantastic and the nannies and 'bulla buddies' (hi Reuben and Una!) are expert at keeping kids of all ages happy. The island is postcard perfect - to the point that our photos probably don't even look real. There is no traffic, and everything seems safe, so kids can run around. The food is to die for. The hiking trails are magnificent, and you can walk around the entire island in 1-2 hours at low tide. The daily snorkelling trip at 11am takes you to accessible reefs with hundreds of fish and living reef. The management and senior staff (and even the owners in our case!) make a point of chatting to you and getting to know you. I just cannot fault this place not speak of it more highly. It is expensive in absolute terms, but the fact that it is 'all inclusive' means you don't ever thinking about the cost of 'this or that', and can just enjoy everything. - 01/07/23read moreread less
- Julie ONext Level Experience - truly luxurious We have travelled all over the world, both as a couple and as a family, but this was truly a next level experience of luxury, incredible food, genuine and warm service and above all else, a genuine escape from ordinary life. The food menu changes daily and has enough to cater for all tastes. We have never eaten so much or so well. As we stepped out of our beachside villa we could literally walk straight into the ocean for crystal blue waters and amazing snorkelling. Coral and fish of colours unmatched with any beach snorkelling we have done. Our family of 4 (children aged 13 and 8) easily shared a beachside villa. Not that we spent much time there!! It was especially nice for our teenage son who often has little to do on resorts unless he finds another boys his age - because he could wander the island and chat to staff, or walk to the Ocean Play area and amuse himself with a variety of water sports. Starfish found on the beach, a fishing charter to catch big fish, a casual walk on white sands.. we skipped into a relaxed ease within hours of arriving and tears formed in our eyes as the farewell song was sung on the last day. Our biggest sadness is July next year is already fully booked! We can see why. Our best family holiday so far. We will be back - when we can get in!! Vinaka Vomo. A magical holiday. - 01/07/23read moreread less
- CatherineHWhat a dream. A beautiful island with authentic, kind staff. Hard to say goodbye. My partner and I spent 10 days on Vomo Island. From start to finish, our time felt like a happy little dream. We've been to other outer island resorts in Fiji before as we prefer the private island feel to mainland spots. The sheer size and beauty of Vomo completely blew us away. And I've gotta say, Vomo's majestic size and rugged rawness trumps any other Fiji island we've been to. Being big meant we found there was no shortage of activities to keep us active. Loads of fun things to do in and out of the water. We even enjoyed the gym on a rainy afternoon. It has great equipment. The runny machine was better than the one here at my gym. The beaches were incredible. You have a choice of two and they go forever! If it's a bit choppy or windy on one side you can always make your way to the other. Running up Mt Vomo was definitely a highlight. We succeeded a few times. It was steeper than we expected - and a lot harder! The views of the island from the top were worth every ounce of effort though. My partner and I loved the little 'inner' forest that has a golf course and lovely palms with a ring road. Just so beautiful and green and enough area to get in a 3-4km flat run in if you're up for that. Beyond the beautiful landscape, it was the staff at Vomo Island who truly made our stay great. Their genuine warmth and hospitality made us feel like cherished guests from the moment we arrived. Every interaction was filled with genuine smiles and the utmost care. You do hear this about Fijians in general but Vomo staff are some of the loveliest we've ever met. They are authentically kind and caring and do everything to ensure you're enjoying your stay. Adjusting to island life always takes a little time, but soon enough, we found ourselves fully immersed in the relaxed rhythm of what the guest manager Tim calls "Vomo Life". Waking to a long, beautiful breakfast each morning at no particular time knowing we had no particular plans other than to enjoy great food and beautiful surrounds was such a delight. True freedom from our crazy lives back home. Accommodation was lovely. Our beachfront haven was perfect for us. Waking up to the sound of waves just a few steps away was a daily reminder of just how lucky we were to be in such a magical place. I would love to try and book a residence next time with friends. They do look amazing and I was always very envious walking past the grand entrance ways on the way to The Rocks Bar. But out of our price range! And yes - Rocks Bar was a favourite. I could have easily slept in one of the pool cabanas every night. Nothing to do with too much Pinot Gris! The sunsets were so amazing and better than any photo could depict. There were a few highlights for us that stand out. The traditional Meke performance - and we've seen a few - was so full of life and fun and you could see it truly came from the heart. We loved it. The private picnics on the south beach were nothing short of a romantic fairytale. I could definitely do that every day. We also treated ourselves and booked a Vomo Lailai picnic as well on our second last day. That was the ultimate and a must-do. Having been to Fiji a few times, our stay at Vomo Island Fiji was better than we were expecting. We thought we knew what to expect of Fiji but Vomo certainly ramped our expectations up a notch. The combination of the island's activities, the genuine and beautiful staff, and the idyllic beachfront haven made it one of our favourite getaways to date. Thank you to all the VOMO family for your sincere hospitality. We cannot wait to come back. - 01/05/23read moreread less
- laramcc1Heaven on Earth! Vomo is the most amazing place, and absolute heaven on Earth! We had an incredible time, all staff were exceptional, the villa was gorgeous, the adults only pool was bliss, the beaches and snorkelling are stunning. Food and drinks are all delicious. We took our little boy and had the most beautiful baby butler help us. We had such an amazing time at Vomo, and can highly recommend this perfect paradise. - 01/07/23read moreread less
- Corinne PDREAM COME TRUE I had been dreaming of going to Vomo for YEARS. We had lived in Fiji for a few years and Vomo was always on my wish list! We finally made it happen for my 40th and it totally exceeded my expectations. From the welcome to the island, the villa was just BEAUTIFUL, the food was exceptional, (at both the adults restaurant and the main restaurant). I wish I could list every single staff member because they were all so wonderful. We have a 5 and 7 year old and they LOVED kids club there. They actually begged us to stay longer whenever we went to collect them! They loved all the staff there and particularly enjoyed their time with Charles. We loved our adult time at the Rocks and always felt so well looked after everywhere we went on the island! I wish I could remember everyone's - 01/03/23read moreread less
- LBurfo63Wow, The most beautiful island with beautiful people We stayed at the palms which was such a treat, the views, food, tours snorkelling which was complimentary, and the trip out to white rock was fabulous. The staff are fantastic and friendly and attentive. Bulllla.
Our waiter and friend Nicky was so accommodating, professional, kind and great to be with. The island is magnificent you can do as little or as much as you wish. we climbed mt vomo, walked the island, snorkelled, swam in our pool, the food was fantastic and generous. I could not fault anything on this island it was amazing and I did not want to go home. shout out to Karen Marvall and Vani for their patience as this trip was booked originally in 2020 and we arrived april 2022. Vinaka - 03/05/22read moreread less - heather081597I wish I could give 11 stars Where do I even start with Vomo Island? My husband and I have traveled all over the world to some pretty amazing places. We have never been more impressed than we were with our experience here. It is rare to feel as though you are genuinely cared for as a person when staying at a hotel, but you do here. We were consistently flabbergasted by the fact that all staff members seemed to know our names, our villa number, and our dietary restrictions. Even the general manager knew who we were, probably because he greeted us when we arrived and sent us off at the end of our stay. You won’t get that kind of care at any hotel I can think of.
If we needed anything, it was taken care of right away. There was a dessert that was incredible, I asked for another and they brought it happily. They made my husband a special meal that he had enjoyed from the day before, even though they didn’t have all of the same ingredients. And don’t even get me started with how they celebrated my birthday. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I can tell you that it has been a long time since I felt that special.
From beginning to end, we had only excellent experiences. The food is so good that we are having a hard time adjusting back to “normal” American food. The Sunday Dessert Heaven was one of the highlights of my life, I think (plus the caramelized banana parfait, holy cow that was good). After every meal, one of us would say, “man, I can’t wait for the next meal!” Unfortunately, that meant the addition of several pounds of body weight during our stay.
The room was beautiful. It is totally worth getting a beachfront villa, the view is spectacular. The activities are awesome, and Fiji Night was so great. I could literally go on and on. We were so sad to leave, many of the team members felt like friends by the end of our trip. If their sentiments are real, then they have found a rare group of people to work there. If their sentiments are not genuine, well, consider me fooled.
Is it expensive? Yes. Is it a small island? Definitely. Is it worth it? Absolutely, every penny. We can’t wait to return as soon as we can. - 25/09/19read moreread less
