- George S" the best time ever ' From the time you arrive at the airport, and check in and leave the island , most incredible experience and memorable holiday anyone can hope for. Arrive to the staff singing the welcome song and then a tearful goodbye song with operatic voices, even brought a tear to my eye. The Staff - never experienced anywhere in the world such service and more importantly with the biggest smiles. Food - was first class. Special mention Jason GM and Tila, who was amazing, caring and I wanted to take her home. Best of all was the coffee I am a coffee nut. Special shout out to water sports team. All round great experience booking again today. - 01/11/22read moreread less
- tmsgramDreamy experience at Vomo! Traveling from the USA, Vomo is a long way to go. But from the second we arrived, we were treated like royalty and thrilled with our experience!
We spent a week on Vomo for our honeymoon, staying in a hillside villa. The amenities were fantastic - the villa was beautiful, resort grounds extremely well-kept, and dining areas organized and clean.
The island itself would be difficult to beat. It is completely surrounded by beautiful coral. Daily (complimentary) snorkeling excursions explore all the beautiful coral around the island. If you are out-doorsy, take a hike up Mount Vomo, but do this early in the morning or late in the evening so you aren't exposed by the midday sun.
The food, OH the food. It was phenomenal. Every meal offers a starter, entree, and dessert, and we were blown away by almost everything we ate there. Fresh juices and fresh-caught seafood were in almost every meal. We literally watched the staff bring in fish they caught in the morning for meals that day. Unreal!
One of the major highlights was the staff. Every person was so friendly and welcoming. They would literally do anything we asked (and some things we didn't ask) to make our experience unforgettable. Like I said earlier, we truly felt like royalty based on the excellent service. Be sure to get to know the staff members. They are great people, and have so much to share about Fiji and Vomo both.
Finally, the "little things" and attention to detail were really what made Vomo "home". From the nightly turndown service, to every staffmember greeting guests with a hearty "bula", to the cold minted towels at meals on a hot day, to bug spray in the rooms and at the bars, the little things are really what made this island feel like home in our week there.
A few "pro tips":
- If staying in a hillside villa, request one high up on the hill. The walk is difficult to get up there, but the view is SO worth it.
- Grab lunch on the beach - kick off your shoes and enjoy the sand between your toes as you eat!
- Don't miss sunset at the Rocks Bar!
- We took the boat from Port both to & from the island. The boat to the island wasn't bad, but we recommend taking a plane or helicopter back to the airport. It just saves on travel time and keeps you out of the elements at the start of a long journey home.
We really felt like we were leaving our 2nd home when we left Vomo. Thank you & vinaka for such a great week there! - 17/11/18read moreread less - BeckFSiroReturn visit....ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! In 2018 my family visited Vomo and on our return we were not in love (see previous review)...our travel agent convinced us to give it a second shot and we have just returned from a week stay. Oh how glad we are that we returned! Every single element of our trip was just spectacular. The staff, the rooms, the reef, the food, the kids club...the entire experience was nothing short of INCREDIBLE and every element that previously made us unsure of our return was resolved. On our last trip we felt the resort vibe lacked the relaxed family feeling we craved but the addition of an "adults only" pool this time has completely changed that. It allows choice for those guests who may not want to share their pool and deck space with children. This takes the stress off parents who want to ensure their kids aren't disturbing others wanting some peace and quiet. This time they even had a kids club group entirely devoted to amusing older children and that included games like Marco Polo in the pool! The other thing that seemed to be different this time around was the staff and management. They just seemed genuinely themselves. Their personalities shone through and they seemed relaxed enough to chat and share stories, give advice and have a laugh, all the while, ensuring glasses were filled, tables were cleared and children felt welcomed and cared for. Their personalities shone through and they seemed relaxed enough to chat and share stories, give advice and have a laugh, all the while, ensuring glasses were filled, tables were cleared and children felt welcomed and cared for. Every single day the management team took the time to chat candidly to their guests about their day. They built relationships that made them super approachable and ensured no questions remained unanswered. Game changer guys!
So how about the kids club? My 9 year old CRIED when we left because he was so in love with the beautiful people who cared for him in kids club which is a huge deal for him as he isn't a particularly emotional child. The resort now have two seperate programs, one for younger children and one that caters for older children. That said, they are also flexible with these programs based on the interests of the children. The children can choose what they want to take part in and sometimes set activities were changed if the kids at the kids club simply wanted to do something different! My youngest (6) was technically too young for the older group his 9 year old brother was in, but that was not an issue. When they realised he wanted to join in with the older children, the resort added an extra adult to the group when they did a snorkelling activity to cater for my youngest and ensure he was safe in the water (does it get more personalised that that???)! Some of the activities they did were: crab racing, snorkelling, tshirt painting, cooking, bonfires, kayaking, playing in the pool, outdoor movie nights, tennis etc etc the list goes on and on and on. Our kids even ditched us on our last night together to have dinner in the kids club and play with their friends! hahah
Just as before the island was paradise. Crystal clear water teeming with fish footsteps from the sand, rainbow reefs accessed from the beach or a daily snorkel trip. This time we swam with reef sharks, saw turtles, collected crabs and even swam amongst a school of fish while giant sea birds dived in after them all around us (my children will never forget that one).
We have already decided when we will return next year and we truly feel like we will be returning home. Thankyou for having us Vomo. We had the most amazing time! More - 30/05/22read moreread less - joejellyStop reading this review and book Vomo! We just returned from 7 nights at Vomo Island with 5 adults and 2 children and had the such a magical time. Vomo is the perfect size island which is big enough to wander and get “lost” on some of the treks and also have an entire picture perfect sandy beach to yourself. You are never truly alone as there is always the amazing stuff who happily great your with a hearty Bula, ask if you want a lift in the Bula Bus or give you some tips on where to snorkel off the beach. The house reef is great and if you want there is a daily snorkel tour that really shows off the beautiful surrounding corals - unlike some resorts off the mainland the coral is thriving here! Accommodations are perfect - if you have enough people definitely look at the residences as it comes with it’s own - 01/12/22read moreread less
- heather081597I wish I could give 11 stars Where do I even start with Vomo Island? My husband and I have traveled all over the world to some pretty amazing places. We have never been more impressed than we were with our experience here. It is rare to feel as though you are genuinely cared for as a person when staying at a hotel, but you do here. We were consistently flabbergasted by the fact that all staff members seemed to know our names, our villa number, and our dietary restrictions. Even the general manager knew who we were, probably because he greeted us when we arrived and sent us off at the end of our stay. You won’t get that kind of care at any hotel I can think of.
If we needed anything, it was taken care of right away. There was a dessert that was incredible, I asked for another and they brought it happily. They made my husband a special meal that he had enjoyed from the day before, even though they didn’t have all of the same ingredients. And don’t even get me started with how they celebrated my birthday. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I can tell you that it has been a long time since I felt that special.
From beginning to end, we had only excellent experiences. The food is so good that we are having a hard time adjusting back to “normal” American food. The Sunday Dessert Heaven was one of the highlights of my life, I think (plus the caramelized banana parfait, holy cow that was good). After every meal, one of us would say, “man, I can’t wait for the next meal!” Unfortunately, that meant the addition of several pounds of body weight during our stay.
The room was beautiful. It is totally worth getting a beachfront villa, the view is spectacular. The activities are awesome, and Fiji Night was so great. I could literally go on and on. We were so sad to leave, many of the team members felt like friends by the end of our trip. If their sentiments are real, then they have found a rare group of people to work there. If their sentiments are not genuine, well, consider me fooled.
Is it expensive? Yes. Is it a small island? Definitely. Is it worth it? Absolutely, every penny. We can’t wait to return as soon as we can. - 25/09/19read moreread less - Travelalot312Perfect Fiji Resort for an active family Vomo was our choice for Christmas 2018 and we had a fantastic time. We choose Vomo because it is a family place and we all love to dive - and the diving was fantastic. Even the snorkeling was incredible. Accommodations are luxury without being over the top. The dining was better than expected and our family voted it as "great". From my picky 12 year old to my 19 year old - everyone enjoyed and Vomo did a nice 'special' dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Best is the range of activities. Water sports of all types and excursions to Little Vomo and beyond as well as the fun workout of climbing Mt. Vomo or circumnavigating the island at low tide. The adult pool was under construction when we were there and that will be a great addition for those who want some away time. Having said that, we always had plenty of 'space' with beach to ourselves. We will visit again for sure. - 31/01/19read moreread less
- Amy RThe most wonderful place on earth! We have just come back from spending 7 wonderful, luxurious days is Vomo Island. Our 5th trip and it did not disappoint! The island really is 5 star! From the welcome song to the staff members remembering your name, it truly is one of the best! The wifi is pretty much non existent, which in hindsight was a blessing. It really makes you check out! The accommodation is perfect, with twice daily room service! Our only thought now is when we can book to return. Don’t forget to book a snorkel trip to White Rock. It’s the most wonderful experience we have ever had with both snorkeling and swimming with reef sharks. Gili and Tulu were amazing guides! So many beautiful staff to name a few! - chrisgC8098PFAmazing island and fantastic team make relaxing in casual luxury that bit more special This was our second trip to Vomo and it was every bit as magic as the first. We stayed in a beachfront villa that was very comfortable and just a short stroll to the restaurant, pool and Ocean Play.
We arrived by boat and from the moment you step onto the sand of the beach you know that you are somewhere that's just a little bit special. The island is spectacular and the mostly Fijian team are attentive but never intrusive, making you feel like a guest in their home.
We stayed for 8 nights and really felt like we were part of the Vomo family. The staff were always helpful and as they got to know us made the effort to be that one step ahead, particularly with the kids. Our kids are 8 and 6 and were perhaps transitioning from Kids Village but still enjoyed spending a couple hours there most days to do the activities like hermit crab racing. But, thanks to the four hours of baby butler available each day, they were also able to head down to Ocean Play for beachside activities or simply to play in the main pool (all day long - thank Siko!). That gave my wife and I the actual and mental space to truly unwind and to wander down to The Rocks a couple of times for a sunset - or lunchtime - cocktail or two.
All meals are included, with lunch and dinner being three course affairs, should you wish. The menu changes daily and while we were there The Rocks Bar offered adults only dining three nights per week.
A definite highlight was the snorkelling trip to White Rock where we had the chance to swim with reef sharks. The small number of guests means that everyone becomes familiar and our kids easily made friends with others on the island. Highly recommend. - 23/04/22read moreread less - laramcc1Heaven on Earth! Vomo is the most amazing place, and absolute heaven on Earth! We had an incredible time, all staff were exceptional, the villa was gorgeous, the adults only pool was bliss, the beaches and snorkelling are stunning. Food and drinks are all delicious. We took our little boy and had the most beautiful baby butler help us. We had such an amazing time at Vomo, and can highly recommend this perfect paradise. - 01/07/23read moreread less
- FionabytheseaAmazing island and resort My husband and I spent a week on Vomo for our 20th wedding anniversary. Having done all of the research and read all the reviews, Vomo was by far my #1 choice as they have a house reef and the island was big enough so that there would be many different activities to choose from.
This resort does not disappoint. It is an 10 minute helicopter ride to Vomo but what a beautiful trip it is. The pilot circled the island for us before he landed so that we could see it from the air.
We stayed in a beachfront bure which are very well furnished, luxurious and spacious. You have your own beachfront hammock and also beach loungers both on your deck and on the beach so there are plenty of places to relax and read. From our loungers, we watched bait balls (big schools of fish) each twilight being chased by larger fish and small reef sharks and dive bombed by herons - it was an exhilarating sight we looked forward to.
Ocean Play was great. The staff were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, accommodating and also had great senses of humour. We loved the activities as much as we loved spending time with them. The snorkelling trips each day by boat were free and gorgeous. The reefs around the island have abundant sea life and corals. Note that the snorkelling from shore on both Eastern and Yasawa Beaches were equally as amazing. We dived - which we loved - and also kayaked to Vomo Lai Lai - the adjoining island, passing a turtle on the way.
The adults pool was a stand-out. Amazing loungers of all shapes and sizes and designs, and so many. The food is served at the pool and in the restaurant, and so are the drinks. It is quiet and even though the resort was full, it felt empty with plenty of quiet places all to yourself.
The walk to the top of Mount Vomo gets your heart racing but is well worth it to see the view, as is the walk around the island.
We loved it - can you tell?
Special thanks to Tim, the manager, who made our trip very special, and to Tila, the waitress, who always knew the best dish to order and looked after us at each meal. The staff are great, friendly, kind and courteous. They really add to the specialness of this resort. - 22/05/22read moreread less
